I have been asked a lot lately about facial serums and if they’re worth the money or not. This new trend started becoming big last year and now there are serums for just about every skin concern on the market. Serums target specific skin needs, and different serums do different things for your face. You can find serums that target brightness, elasticity, hydration, etc. It all depends on what is inside the actual serum itself.
I personally starting using serums about 6 months ago and saw a great improvement in the overall texture of my face. I currently use Dr Brandt Vitamin D Serum (shown above), Valjean Labs Glow Serum (Vitamin C and Hyaluronic Acid), and Rata & Co Chia Seed Oil Eye Serum. Using these serums almost every day I have seen my dark spots virtually disappear. While my dark spots were never my biggest skin concern, it is still nice to have more even skin tone. I am only 22, so I can’t really comment on the age-defying benefits, but I have heard great things about improvements in elasticity using serums.
In my opinion, serums are a great addition to any skincare routine, but not a necessary step. If you have a specific skin concern that’s bothering you, you most likely will be able to find a serum that will target and improve that area of your skin. If you have good skin and don’t have any pressing issues, serums are a great addition and have great benefits but aren’t completely necessary for a good skin routine.
